New Delhi, Aug 18: The Vajpayee-led NDA government will today face a no-confidence motion moved by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. However, the move does not pose any real threat to the government with the arithmetic comfortably loaded in its favour. The NDA is claiming the support of 323 MPs in the House of 543 with even DMK, which had strongly opposed the government's move to seek AIADMK's support, deciding to vote against the Opposition's no-trust motion. The Congress had taken the government by surprise late last week by tabling a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led coalition after a week-long stalemate over government's refusal to part with a CVC report to Public Accounts Committee seeking to probe defence purchases during the Kargil conflict. While the no-trust motion is not in any way pose a threat to the Vajpayee -led government, but the Opposition-sponsored exercise is likely to throw up a lot of heat and dust and bring to surface possible fissures in the ruling coalition.
