Diana`s Pak lover to stay mum: The Hindustan Times
London, Nov 05: Paul Burrell, the former royal butler, may have made millions from his book, but Hasnat Khan, who almost got married to Diana, has steadfastly refused to go the Burrell way.
Khan, a heart surgeon of Pakistan origin, was close to Diana, who also visited his family in Pakistan in the company of Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith.
Khan's family says that he would never betray Diana's memory by leaking nuggets about his association with her.
Based in London, Khan has remained a bachelor as aides say that he has not recovered from Diana's untimely death.
Khan was supposed to be "the favourite" in Diana's list of suitors as Burrell revealed in his controversial book.
Mehmoon, Khan's brother, told the "Eastern Eye": "Hasnat is a decent man -- full stop. He would never sell her secrets.
"We have talked about how he could make millions of dollars from a book, but his answer is always a firm 'No'.
"He respects people and that is probably one of the reasons the Princess made him her favourite."
Diana reportedly asked Hasnat to move into the Kensington Palace, but he had declined.
Mehmoon said his parents were keen that Hasnat marry.
"I don't know if it is because of Diana but as his younger brother I would not show him the disrespect of asking him that," he said.
