New Delhi, Sept 09: A witness in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case in which senior IPS officer R K Sharma is a prime accused today told a city court that the wire alleged to have been recovered from her residence after the offence was sufficient to cause death by strangulation in ordinary course. Dr Sudhir K Gupta, assistant professor, AIIMS, who had performed post mortem on the body of victim, told Additional Sessions Judge J M Malik that the autopsy report prepared by a three-member team had mentioned that Shivani was strangulated by wire. "I have given my opinion about the wire as well as other opinion in my report," he said adding that external as well as internal injuries were caused to the victim. He also identified the articles allegedly used in the crime which were brought to the hospital at the time of performing the autopsy. However, during cross-examination, when Sharma's counsel asked the doctor that police might have brought some other wire, Gupta said, "There may be some other wire".

But he said he could not say whether he put the wire in the parcel. "I have not mentioned anything about the parcel in the post mortem report," he added.
