Former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Adhar Kumar Chatterji died here on Monday. He was 87.
He entered the Royal Indian Navy in 1933 as the first
cadet entry officer. As an anti-submarine warfare specialist,
he saw active service during world war ii while serving on
board various ships of the royal navy and The Royal Indian
Navy in The Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, an official release
said.
An alumnus of the Royal Staff College at United Kingdom, Admiral Chatterji held various positions at naval headquarters and command levels. He steered the Indian Navy as the Chief of the Naval Staff from 1966 to 1970. Bureau Report
