Paris, Oct 15: Nokia the leading world maker of portable telephones, has funds available for takeovers but has not yet found a suitable target, company Chairman Jorma Ollila told the newspaper Les Echos here today. He also left open a possibility that Nokia might sell its infrastructure activities.
Ollila said "we have never ruled out takeovers but until now we have not found a target which was suitable.
"That said, we will never buy companies providing content or in other fields which are removed from our core business."
Ollila said the telecommunications infrastructure sector had excessive capacity and he did not rule out the possibility that Nokia might withdraw from it.
"One does not detach oneself easily from half of one's heart, even if someone offers you a good price," he said.
