New Delhi, Aug 22: State-owned engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals has bagged an order worth Rs 16 crore for installing 30 MW steam turbine in Tisco's captive power plant at Jamshedpur. The equipment would be manufactured and supplied by BHEL's Hyderabad plant and the unit is slated to be commissioned within 20 months, a company statement said here today. The steam turbine would replace one of the old turbines at Tisco's 90 MW house-3 and would be coupled with the existing generator and auxiliaries of the units, it said.
BHEL had earlier supplied and installed steam turbine generator sets of various capacities at Tisco's power house at Jamshedpur. The recent order from Tisco comes close on the heels of BHEL securing an order for 120 mw thermal power plant at Jojobera in Jharkhand from another Tata group company, Tata Power.
BHEL has so far executed contracts for over 500 steam and gas turbine-based power plants in India and abroad. Bureau Report
