Washington, June 26: The House of Representatives
has approved a legislation to extend the number of J-1 visas
for each state by 30 in order to bring foreign doctors to serve the deprived rural communities in the US.
The legislation, sponsored by republican congressman
Jerry Moran and supported by democratic congressman Frank Pallone, a founder of the India caucus in Congress, became necessary because the agricultural department, in the wake of the terrorist attacks, ceased sponsoring foreign doctors to go to rural areas.
