But the 400 children who participated in the finals of The Hindu-Young World Painting competition lent spice and brightness to all these commonplace areas with their many hued works of art.
The myriad hues of a market, the verdant countryside with its many tinges of green, the vivid shades that make a festival, the many-armed goddess being worshipped by villagers in a colourful ceremony, the chaos of vehicles at a traffic junction - the participants let their imagination run wild.
