Quetta, Nov 29: An army vehicle patrolling Pakistan's remote southwestern tribal region hit a land mine today, injuring two paramilitary soldiers, police said.
No one claimed responsibility for the explosion in Sui, about 500 km east of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, said Karim Ullah, a local police official.
Ullah gave no other details and only said police were still investigating.
Land mine explosions are common in Sui, where Pakistan's main gas pipeline originates and the federal government has limited control.
Pakistan has deployed troops in the area to provide security for the pipeline which is often attacked by tribesmen to put pressure on the government to give them more royalties for the gas extracted in the area. Bureau Report
