Silverstone, Feb 05: Nick Heidfeld tests the 2004 Jordan Formula One car for the first time.
In wet conditions, Heidfeld drove the EJ14 for 37 laps around the British Grand Prix circuit situated next to the Jordan factory.
Despite a battle to obtain sponsorship, team boss Eddie Jordan is confident that 2004 will see an upturn in the team's fortunes. "I think the car is a big step," he said. "We were pretty unhappy with last year's car towards the latter half. Perhaps it didn't get the development it probably deserved, but at the end of the day, it wasn't really that quick enough despite luckily enough winning in Brazil, but that apart, it was a disappointment. This is a very, very major step forward. Hopefully, we've been able to catch up with the really good guys, and time will tell."
