Patiala, Dec 08: The private residence of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh here, has been surrounded by a posse of police personnel, following fears that the Akalis, who are holding the 'birthday rally' of Shiromani Akali Dal supremo Parkash Singh Badal today, may gherao it. Around 100 Punjab police personnel have taken positions around the new Moti Bagh Palace, the Chief Minister's residence, and put up barricades.
The personnel would be provided langar (community kitchen) by the management of the nearby Gurdawara Moti Bagh.
Interestingly, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) management, whose chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra has announced the agitation against the Punjab government, runs the gurdawara.
Tohra has also announced his candidature for the next Lok Sabha elections against sitting MP and Capt Amarinder Singh's wife Parneet Kaur.
Yesterday, Parneet Kaur visited Tohra's wife Jaswant Kaur, who has been admitted to a private hospital here following a complaint of arthritis.
