Ghaziabad, Apr 21: A man who was getting married to the daughter of Samajwadi Party leader Narender Bhati was shot at and seriously wounded by unidentified gunmen during the ceremony here last night, police said today. The gunmen opened fire on Tapesh Choudhury from point blank range when he was exchanging garlands with the bride just before solemnization of the marriage at a function at Mihir Inter College at Dadri, 18km from here, IG (Meerut Zone), Karamvir Singh said. Tapesh, who had come from New Friends colony locality of south Delhi, was hit on the head and rushed to hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Ashok Pradhan was present at the marriage ceremony when the incident took place. Pradhan described the attack as "politically motivated" while Singh termed it as an "accidental fire."
