Heavy shelling by Pak troops in Poonch
Jammu, Oct 08: Pakistani troops today resorted to heavy shelling on forward locations in the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir resulting in injuries to a civilian and damage to the outer wall of a hospital, official sources said.

sources said.
Targeting forward defence locations and civilian areas,
Pakistani troops shelled Poonch town, Shahpur and Mendhar in
the district in the wee hours of the day, the sources said,
adding Indian troops retaliated " effectively".
One civilian was injured in the shelling in Mendhar area,
the sources said, adding the exchange of shelling was
continuing.
Outer wall of a hospital suffered damage as one of the
shells hit a sarai in the premises, the sources said.
Another shell exploded at Kansar Mohalla, causing panic
among the people who rushed to safer places for shelter.
Reports from Rajouri district said Pak troops fired 195 light artillery rounds and 82-mm mortar bombs in Bhawani area of Noushera sector since last evening forcing Indian troops to retaliate.
Two buffaloes were killed and two an equal number injured when a shell exploded on the cowshed in Bhawani area last night, the sources said.
Reports from international border said that exchange of intermittent small arms fire took place between the two sides in R S Pora and Samba area of Jammu district without any loss of life or damage on Indian side, the sources said.
