Several ultras belonging to the banned 'Operation Crackdown' launched against the banned Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) in north Bihar has resulted in a number of ultras surrendering to the authorities, deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirhut Range) S K Bhardwaj said on Sunday. Several hardcore naxals belonging to the outfit have been arrested in the five north Bihar districts of Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Vaishali and parts of Motihari district, where the operation has been launched, he said.
A list of 300 hardcore MCC activists has been prepared and Special Task Force is conducting raids to apprehend them, Bhardwaj said.
All officers-in-charge of police stations in these districts have been asked to initiate action against the persons perpetrating crime against the dalits, he added.
Meanwhile, the police arrested one Deonaryan Ram, a self-proclaimed regional publicity in-charge of the MCC from Machali village of the district yesterday. Ram was also wanted by the police in connection with a bank dacoity, Bhardwaj said.
