Srinagar, June 14: People of Hill Kaka area in Jammu and Kashmir, where the army launched a major offensive to clear Pakistani intruders, would be compensated for losses suffered by them during the operation, the state government said today. The dislocated population of hill Kaka area in Poonch district would be compensated for lost livestock and fodder upto a maximum of Rs 1600 per month per family, minister for revenue and rehabilitation Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen told the state legislative council.

Replying to a discussion on the issue, the minister said government would consider compensating the affected Gujjar and Bakarwal community whose movement had been restricted in some pastures in Kashmir division.
However, he added that in most parts of the division, the two communities have not been prohibited from visiting pastures.

Yaseen said that the entire Panikhar and Rangdom areas of Kargil district of frontier region of Ladakh have been declared out of bounds for Gujjar and Bakerwal community for security reasons.
