Chandigarh, Oct 27: Former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev inaugurated Chandigarh cricket academy, established under the Area Developing Programme of the Board of Control of Cricket of India (BCCI) here today. Under the scheme, a committee has selected talented cricketers in the age group of under 17 and under 19. The selected players will be provided coaching and other essential sports material by the academy to promote cricket in the area in collaboration with the BCCI.
This scheme would be useful for budding cricketers of the area and the academy would provide more cricketers to the country like in the past, Kapil said on the occasion. He hoped that Chandigarh would be given recognition for participation in Ranji Trophy. Bureau Report
