British airways,in a bid to have an edge in the growing competition in the aviation field, said on Monday that it had launched a range of new services on its flights, including a new world traveller plus cabin and a lounge in the sky. BA's General Manager (south asia) Alan F Briggs and manager (south India) Rommel Valles, told reporters after the inaguration of a new office premises that the new range of services were part of a 600 million sterling pound investment launched by the airways.
The new services included a 'world traveller plus' cabin, which offered more space and facilities and doubled hand baggage allowance, making BA the first airline to offer four district configuration. The 'lounge in the sky', they said, featured the world's first fully flat bed for business class travellers, who needed to work and sleep in private on long haul trips.
Referring to the supersonic concorde, they said testing of the aircraft, after it had been suspended one year ago, was in full swing. Tests so far have been successful. Once the aircraft was pressed into service, it would have totally refurbished interiors, they said.
