Jaipur/Bhopal, Dec 08: Two new Chief Ministers, and the first women to take the post in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, were sworn in today.
Vasundhara Raje took oath outside the new assembly building in Jaipur—yet another first for the state.
A small team of nine ministers will also take oath with her, including Gulab Chand Kataria, Ghanshyam Tiwari, Kirodi Lal Meena, Sanwar Lal Jat, Madan Dilawar, Narpat Singh Rajvi, Prabhu Lal Saini, Kanak Mal Katara and Yunus Khan.
Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Uma Bharti is also the first backward caste chief minister of the state. And she has promised not to have a large cabinet.
Seventeen ministers are also to be sworn in, including 12 of the Cabinet rank and five ministers of state. Uma`s council of ministers is unlikely to exceed 35.
BJP swept both the states in the assembly election held in the first week of December. The party has a clear majority in both the states.
