Exquisite gold jewellery was on display at an exhibition by World Gold Council (WGC) in Rajkot since August 25. The exhibition hosted by a leading jeweller, Premji Valji and sons at Jankalyan Hall, showcased bridal jewellery by Preva`s collection, and award winning designs under "Swaranjali" banner. The marketing director of World Gold Council, Hiru Mirchandani said that the council, which had been organising similar exhibitions annually for the last four years, provides opportunities to upcoming young designers, artisans and amateurs. He said that the council also gives away awards for best contests, which was considered prestigious by the jewellery designers, who use it as a platform for international as well as domestic clients. He said that 55,700 entries from designers across the country were received by the council for the contest this year, of which 36 were selected for the awards.
Jalpa Merchant, one of the award winners, said that people in the country liked traditional jewellery with a western touch and added that the council has provided opportunity to designers to display their products.
Haresh Soni of Preva`s collections, said that the event provided a boost to designers and helped artisans promote their skills.
