Kiran Shantaram sworn in Mumbai sheriff
Noted film maker and studio owner Kiran Shantaram was on Friday sworn in the new sheriff of the metropolis.

Maharashtra governor Dr P C Alexander administered the oath of office to Shantaram, son of illustrious film-maker V Shantaram, at a function at the Raj Bhavan.
Kiran succeeds Ashok Mehta whose tenure ended on December 19, 2001. He will hold the post of sheriff till December 19, 2002, a Raj Bhavan release said.
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal and chairman of state legislative council Prof N S Pharande were among those present on the occasion.
Kiran has directed acclaimed film "Jhunz" and produced a hit film "Ashi Hi Banvabanvi". He has also produced a short film "portrait of a pioneer" on the life of V Shantaram.
