Wakefield, Mar 30: Wakefield completed an early season league and cup double over Castleford in a thrilling derby at The Jungle. The home side opened the scoring after just two minutes when lively full-back Damian Gibson sent Michael Eagar over from short range.
Matt Seers, Brad Davis and Castleford's Francis Maloney then all had a stint in the sin-bin, before Wakefield got back into the game when Gareth Ellis to slipped in for a touchdown.
Seers was back in the action after his return, and, after having a try disallowed for a knock-on, h went over in the corner on the stroke of half-time.
After two Ian Knott penalties, Jeffries' well-weighted grubber sent in Davis to put Wakefield 10 points clear. Mark Lennon ensured a tense finale when he jinked his way over for a Cas reply 14 minutes from time, but Wakefield held on for victory.
