Kolkata, July 21: NDA convenor George Fernandes today indicated that a Union Cabinet berth for Trinamool Congress
leader Mamata Banerjee was open if she wanted to rejoin.
"I have not come here to make any announcement regarding her induction to the union cabinet. I am here at her call to attend the meeting. The day she wants to go (apparently meaning to rejoin the cabinet), she can do it," Fernandes told a Trinamool Congress rally amidst cheers from supporters.
Banerjee later said that a ministerial berth did not matter to her. Her sole concern was to remove the "oppressive" CPI(M)-led Left Front government.
"And it is upto the Centre to take a decision," Banerjee, who had pressed before Fernandes at the rally for imposition of President's rule in the state, said.
