New Delhi, May 13: The BJP today said the trends and results of the Lok Sabha elections were "totally against our expectations" and felt the situation "is very difficult" for the party. "Even in Gujarat and Bihar the results were not upto our calculations," general secretary Pramod Mahajan told reporters here adding the reasons for the "setback" would have to be analysed.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders are meeting in prime minister's official race course road residence at 1230 hours to review the situation.
BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told, "Trends are surprising and if the trends reflect in the results, even then the BJP pre-poll alliance will do better than Congress-led pre-poll alliance".
He said after the results are out "we will sit and discuss".
"We are not at all apologetic of our achievements", he said.
Asked whether the party regretted its decision to go for early polls, he replied in the negative, saying "it was a well-thought out decision and based on circumstances and political climate"
