The explosion occurred late yesterday near Kohlu, which is about 350 kilometers east of Quetta, capital of the Baluchistan province, said Usman Shah, a local administrator.
No one claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Paramilitary troops fired three rockets toward nearby hills after the explosion, shah said. It wasn't clear what they were targeting.
Local tribesmen who resent the presence of government soldiers have been suspected of attacking troop posts in the area in the past with rockets, rarely causing casualties or serious damage.
Baluchistan is located near the afghan border and its capital, Quetta, has been the scene of a string of mysterious, small-scale bomb explosions and rocket attacks.
