Model killed in mishap, police register case against hotel
Mumbai, June 16: A budding model was killed when a window pane on the 25th floor of a five-star hotel in downtown Mumbai came crashing down on her head as she was heading towards the swimming pool area.
Mumbai, June 16: A budding model was killed when a window pane on the 25th floor of a five-star hotel in downtown Mumbai came crashing down on her head as she was heading towards the swimming pool area.
The model Pritinder Kaur Jaspalsingh Negi collapsed on the spot at Oberoi hotel at 6.15 last evening as the window frame ruptured her skull, police said today.
The victim was rushed to J J Hospital where she was declared dead.
The hotel, in a statement, termed it as a "tragic accident". An inquiry into the incident was being carried out independently to collect details relating to the accident, it said.
Police registered a case against Oberoi Hotels for causing death of the model by negligence. An offence under IPC has been registered against the hotel management.
Pritinder had come to the hotel for a swim. "She was walking towards the pool when the accident occurred," police said.
Pritinder was the youngest among the three daughters of a retired accountant of ministry of external affairs. She was staying in suburban Versova and had just returned from England to pursue a career in modelling. She was a student of London City College.
