Lucknow, Jan 22: With an aim to plug smuggling and terrorist in-flow from the porus Indo-Nepal border, the elite secret service bureau has been deployed along the border in the Uttar Pradesh. SSB has taken over the Sidharthnagar Border Post and the process is on to hand it over the Maharajganj outpost, Prakash Singh, inspector general, Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border police (UPNBP), said.

Following intelligence reports of increase in smuggling activities along the Indo-Nepal border, bordering UP, the elite UPNBP was specially constituted to man the border districts. But after it failed to curb anti-national activities along the porus border, the Centre decided to disband the UPNBP. The 13 districts of the state share 500 km long border with Nepal.
