New Delhi, Oct 13: Reports of large-scale corruption by top officials of Pakistan's Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in illegal sale of evacuee land, including those belonging to historic gurdwaras, has forced President Pervez Musharraf regime to start a probe against the present and former ETPB chiefs, media reports have said. Among the charges against those ETPB chiefs are disappearance of 12 kg gold and an estimated Rs 1.65 crore from various Pakistani gurdwaras which were given as donations by Sikhs from other countries including India, Pakistani dailies including 'the news' and 'daily times' reported.
According to the reports, one of ETPB chiefs was the "architect" of floating a parallel pakistan Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee over a year ago as an alternative to Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.
The enquiry committee, headed by a former high court judge A M Mengel, would also probe reports of money-laundering through hawala channels allegedly with some of Khalistani separatist leaders.
