Chennai, Feb 26: Cricket or politics, 'Sidhuisms' are his credo, something former Indian opener Navjot Singh Sidhu can't seem to resist even in his new career as a politician. At a press conference here which he addressed along with BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu, 'Sidhuisms' flowed with the same ease of the masterstrokes he used to play.
Hailing the BJP for its ''thinking'' and for enhancing the country's image, Sidhu quipped, ''even a hen which lays an egg cackles as though it has laid an asteroid.''
''It's the thinking of a party which makes it good,'' he said, adding that the party also had a man of principles (Prime Minister A B Vajpayee) at its helm. On being asked why he joined the BJP being a Sikh, he retorted - ''noise will produce nothing. Let's leave religion out. It is personal. The creator lives in his creation.''
The Punjab cricketer-turned-politician, who will campaign for the BJP across the country affirmed, ''I will ask the voter to vote for a party which is working for the integration and development of the country.''
Asked if he would expect any post in the party or seek to become an MP, Sidhu said ''I live in the present. It's the blood of a true soldier that brings glory to the commander.''
