Guwahati, Nov 23: Suspected ULFA militants burnt to death two Biharis in the worst-hit upper Assam's Tinsukia district today increasing the toll in ethnic violence to 52. A group of militants swooped on village Halokhowa and burnt down several houses of the Bihari community people in the wee hours, police said here.
Panic-stricken people fled the houses but two got trapped and were burnt to death.
Heavy police reinforcements have been rushed to the spot and combing operation launched.
Yesterday, in the troubled district, as many as 11 Biharis were gunned to death by the ULFA which later owned the killings to the local media.
Meanwhile, in view of the unabated violence against people from Bihar in Assam and other north-eastern states, the Bihar Motor Transport Federation has decided against sending trucks to the area.
BMTF general secretary Sagirul Haque and secretary Upendra Sharma told that the decision was taken after four innocent truck drivers were killed at Nalbari in Assam.
