New Delhi, July 17: Shortly after the NDA announced its vice-presidential candidate, congress today said it would come out with a common candidate for the election after consulting other opposition parties. "The consultations are on with other opposition parties. Once this process is over, we will come out with the name of a common candidate for the post," party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters here.

Asked who would be the candidate, Sharma said a number of names were discussed and a final announcement would be made only after the consultation process was over. "I can assure you that congress and other opposition parties will field their candidate. There are various names which have been discussed. We just wanted NDA to announce its nominee before we come out with our choice."
