Chandigarh, June 30: Alleging that there had been complete breakdown of the constitutional machinery in the state, Shiromani Akali Dal today demanded dismissal of the Capt Amarinder Singh led congress government in Punjab. In a memorandum submitted to Governor Justice (Retd) O P Verma, the SAD alleged the ruling Congress in the state had been misusing the rule of law. "The mal-administration by the government over the last 16 months has brought Punjab to the brink of financial bankruptcy there is no development in the state, the hard earned peaceful atmosphere is being vitiated and there is unrest amongst all sections of society,” said the memorandum
"All this has brought about a situation where there is complete and total failure of constitutional machinery in the state," it added. Accusing the present government of victimising its political opponents in the garb of drive against corruption, the SAD warned that the situation could slide back to the days of civil disorder if immediate steps are not taken.
Former chief minister and SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal led a delegation of party MLAs and MPs to submit the memorandum to the governor. Bureau Report
