Beijing, Apr 15: China today voiced its opposition to US threatening Syria for allegedly harbouring leading members of the deposed Iraqi regime and possessing chemical weapons.
"Syria has already denied the relevant accusation by the
united states," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Liu
Jianchao told reporters.
"China has always maintained that international conflicts should be solved politically. We are against the use of force or the threat of use of force," Liu said.
Queried on China's stance on the Iraq issue, he said "China's position has been clearly stated at the beginning of the war and it remains unchanged".
He stressed that China believes that the final settlement of the Iraqi question should be under the framework of the United Nations Security Council.
