New Delhi, Nov 18: Congress tonight said it would examine and give "appropriate" and satisfactory reply to the election commission's show cause notice to it for "violating" the model code of conduct through the use of Chhattisgarh Government aircraft by party president Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.
"We are a responsible party. We respect the code of conduct. Once we receive the notice, we will give an appropriate reply which will satisfy the commission," party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters.
Noting that the Prime Minister uses air force aircraft during electioneering and the party in power pays for it, he said it needed to be examined whether such a provision could be applicable to Chief Ministers also.
