TDP legislator`s remand extended till Sept 26
Pune, Sept 20: Senior TDP MLA and former minister C Krishna Yadav, whose police custody expired today in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, was produced before the court of Judical Magistrate M N Bondre and remanded to further police custody till September 26.

Yadav, the 54th accused in the inter-state fake stamp racket hailing from Himayatnagar constituency of Hyderabad was picked up on September 6 from Hyderabad and brought to Pune after being arrested. He was produced before the court and was remanded to police custody.
He is the second legislator to be booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the Rs 3,000 crore fake stamp paper racket.
Sitting MLA of Dhule district Anil Gote (Samajwadi Janata Party) was the first legislator to be arrested under MCOCA for having links with the kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi.
A team of sit conducted searches at the house of Yadav in Hyderabad yesterday to further probe his involvement in the racket. The raids began on Thursday night at the legislators residence at the MLA quarters at Hyderguda and another house a Lal Darwaza in the old city. Some documents were seized during the raid.
Of the 54 arrested, so far only five remain to be chargesheeted. They include the TDP MLA Yadav, senior police inspector of crime branch Mumbai Dattatrey Dhal and Abdul Wahi who looked after Telgi's finances.
Telgi and others are facing charges of printing and distributing counterfeit stamps and stamp-papers in Maharashtra and other states causing losses to the government to the tune of several crores of rupees.
