New Delhi, July 14: The Designated Authority has recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on all imports of vitamin C from US and Canada. In its final findings, the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) said the anti-dumping duty imposed will be equal to the difference between $10.11 per kilogram and landed value of imports.
The duty will be applicable on all imports of vitamin C and most commonly used synonyms of Vitamin C like Ascorbic Acid, L-Xyloascorbic Acid, 3-Oxogulofuranolactone(enol form), L-3Ketothreohexuronic Acid, Lactone as described under the entry number 867 of MERCK Index, a notification dated July 10 said.
Stating that Vitamin C imported from US and Canada had been exported to India below its normal value resulting in dumping and causing injury to domestic industry, the Authority said it was considered necessary to impose definitive anti-dumping duty on all imports of Vitamin C.
It said Indian industry had suffered material injury due to imports from the subject countries.
Investigation against dumping was initiated on a petition by Sarabhai M Chemicals.
The investigation covered the period from April 01, 2001 to March 31, 2002. Bureau Report
