Colombo, Oct 29: Sinhalese extremists attacked a cultural show organised here today to promote unity among minority Tamils and majority Sinhalese, wounding at least seven people, witnesses said.

Men armed with knives entered the new town hall here
and tried to break up the launch of the two-day cultural
event.
Witnesses said most of the victims were journalists covering the Sinhala-Tamil cultural show.
Additional police were rushed to the area to bring the situation under control and the cultural event got underway.
