Pune, Oct 06: A special court here today reserved orders on the bail applications of Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) MLA Anil Gote and suspended assistant police inspector of Mumbai crime branch, Dilip Kamath, in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, for October 8.
Pune, Oct 06: A special court here today reserved orders on the bail applications of Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) MLA Anil Gote and suspended assistant police inspector
of Mumbai crime branch, Dilip Kamath, in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, for October 8.
Arguing against granting bail to the duo, chief public
prosecutor Raja Thakre told the court that both Gote and
Kamath had knowledge of the organised crime syndicate run by
prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi.
Claiming that the duo still had links and had gained monetary benefits from Telgi, he said Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was fully applicable on them and hence should not be given bail.
Thakre said Kamath knew that Telgi was the prime accused in the racket but still had helped dispose of the latter's property knowing that in MCOCA, the properties can be attached.
This clearly indicated Kamath's links with Telgi, he said.
About Gote, the prosecutor said, the MLA was closely associated with Telgi in the printing press where counterfeit stamps were being printed and added that the legislator had also received large sums of money from the prime accused.
Opposing the bail plea, Thakre said, the accused can `pressurise' the witnesses if released on bail. Bureau Report
