New Delhi, June 08: Joint appeal on behalf of Hindus and Muslims to politicians to keep out of Ayodhya tangle for an amicable solution of the vexed problem is being prepared
and may be ready in a month, Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati said today.
The Shankaracharya who is here in connection with golden jubilee celebration of his ascension to the throne of Kanchi Mutt, said the draft of this appeal has been prepared and was being written by both sides.
It is expected to be readied when he comes here early next month, Jayendra Saraswati, who has mediated between both the sides including the VHP and Muslim Personal Law Board told reporters here.
He said the Muslim religious leaders, he had met were all too keen that a solution must be found soon and that the community was prepared to handover the disputed site in Ayodhya to the Hindu religious heads but not to political organisations.
He said the Muslim leaders were prepared for an agreement involving Hindu religious heads like the Kanchi Mutt seer and the government without the involvement of political parties and organisations.
Jayendra Saraswati said the one major problem, the Muslim leaders said their community was facing was that in return for a settlement in Ayodhya issue, what would Muslims get.
He said their demand was that hundreds of mosques taken by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) should be handed over to the community so that prayers could be held by them in these mosques.
The demand was reasonable, he said. Bureau Report
