New Delhi, Dec 22: CBI has arrested a works manager of Nashik-based India Security Press (ISP) in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp papers case on charges of helping the prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi in spreading his network across the country. The CBI sources said Mahendra Singh was arrested by the agency last night after he failed to reply to the queries of the sleuths.
Singh is being brought to the national capital along with the then general manager of the ISP Ganga Prakash, arrested on December 19 when the CBI registered a case for alleged security lapses at the government security press.
Besides these two, the others named in the case by CBI include Telgi, a retired machinist N A Bhusare, assistant controller of stamps P P Konkane and head clerk D S Shaligram.
The agency FIR alleged that these officials had committed various acts of omission and commission which facilitated Telgi and his associates to acquire technical know-how for printing of fake stamps and non-judicial stamp papers.
The works manager, who was then incharge of the disposal cell in ISP, had allowed Telgi to visit the letter-press section of ISP and also facilitated his meeting with Prakash, the CBI FIR alleged.
The two were also likely to undergo a lie-detector test and a detailed questioning, the sources said. Bureau Report
