Quetta (Pakistan), Oct 03: Assailants fired a rocket and opened machine gun fire on a railway engine in southwestern Pakistan, killing its driver and wounding two others, a senior railway official said today. Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack late Thursday in Sibi, about 150 km southeast of Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Baluchistan province. Wounded in the attack were a rail worker and a police officer who was on the engine. The engine was not connected to a train when the attack occurred, said Imdad Hussain, an official at Pakistan Railways. He gave no other details and said authorities were still investigating. Tribesmen often attack buses and trains in the region over disputes with the government over land and other issues. Bureau Report
