New Delhi, Dec 23: The Winter session of the Parliament, that began on December 02, will conclude today. The session, that was shorter than usual due to assembly elections in four states in early December, saw much upheaval over the Judeo and Jogi issues. The passing of the anti-defection bill and the amendment of the Pota Act are being seen as the major achievements during the session.
Towards the beginning of the session, the alleged scam involving former Union minister Dilip Singh Judeo put the ruling NDA coalition under a severe attack by the opposition. However, the tables were seen turning with the Ajit Jogi cash-for-MLA scam as the BJP hit back at the Congress with allegations of corrupt practices. The near-total sweep by BJP in the assembly polls gave the ruling coalition a further boost.
The session, which traditionally begins in the third week of November, had been curtailed owing to assembly elections in four states on December 01 keeping in mind the preoccupation of MPs with campaign in their constitutencies.
The session, which lasted 22 days, had 16 sittings, official sources said.
