Itanagar, Oct 13: The Arunachal Pradesh government has constituted a six-member ministerial committee to go into the contentious Chakma-Hajong refugee issue. State Home Minister L Wanglat, addressing a press conference here today, said the committee constituted by the cabinet with him as chairman will submit a report to it on the problem caused by thousands of Chakma and Hajong refugees who have been residing in some parts of the state since 1964 after coming over from the Chittagong hill tracks in Bangladesh. Referring to opposition congress demand for his resignation following some violent incidents in the state recently, Wanglat said the crime rate in Arunachal Pradesh was far less than that of other states. He appealed to ''misguided'' youth to surrender arms for peace and prosperity of the state. The state government would contribute in addition to the central government's scheme for their rehabilitation, Wanglat added. Bureau Report
