Allahabad, Feb 20: The Allahabad High Court today reserved its order on a writ petition charging Chief Minister Mayawati with financial irregularities relating to purchase of a float pump and construction of a park during her previous tenures in 1995 and 1997. The petition alleged Mayawati committed several financial impriorities in the sale of 400 acre industrial land in Noida, purchase of a float pump and construction of Ambedkar Park at Lucknow without the sanction of the state assembly. A division bench comprising Justice R K Dash and Justice V S Bajpai reserved its order after concluding arguments by the petitioner good cause association, Allahabad, and the respondents -- Mayawati, urban development minister Lalji Tandon, CBI and CAG.
The association had filed a writ petition in 1996 seeking speedy probe by state investigative agency, CBI and CAG into the financial irregularities and another petition in October last year for a court directive to the investigative agencies to conclude their probe within a time-frame.
