Lok Janshakti of Ramvilas Paswan on Saturday joined the left parties in favouring second term in office for President K R Narayanan but said it also wanted to know his mind.
“We are whole heartedly for Narayanan. But we must know his mind too. Our party's view is that he should be given second term, party president Ramvilas Paswan told reporters here.” However, Paswan who recently quit NDA government, said a final decision in this regard would be taken after discussing the matter at the two-day national executive of party which began on Saturday.
Asked about left parties' decision to back Narayanan or Samajwadi Party pushing the name of noted scientist A P J Abul Kalam, Paswan said it was he in 1992 who relentlessly campaigned for his candidature as vice-president. “It would be good if there is a consensus in his favour,” he said adding even congress has not opened its cards on the issue.
We also don't know what is the stand of NDA, the BJP and NDA allies separately, he said.
