Jammu, Aug 12: Asserting that there is no place for communal clashes in India, Union Minister of State for Defence Chaman Lal Gupta has called upon the people to maintain communal harmony and peace by defeating the evil designs of anti-social elements. People have to join their hands to defeat the vested interests, who are hell-bent to exploit religious sentiments of the people for getting political mileage, he said during his visit to Kishtwar town of Doda district on Sunday.

Expressing concern over the clashes in Kishtwar on August 1, the minister said communal clashes have no place in India when the whole nation is yearning for peace "after finding lasting solution to all the problems faced by the people".
Earlier, Gupta discussed law and order scenario in Kishtwar town with civil and police authorities and asked the administration to keep close vigil on anti-social elements and ensure that such incidents did not repeat in future.
