Islamabad, Sept 28: Close to President Pervez Musharraf's visit to New York, Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali would arrive in United States today to hold talks with President George W Bush on bilateral, global and regional issues including relations with India.
Jamali, on his 11-day maiden visit to Washington after being elected as Prime Minister last year, is expected to keep up the tempo of statements against India and on the Kashmir issue, media discuss ways and means to augment relations between the US and Pakistan, besides holding discussions on regional and global issues including developments in Afghanistan, the situation in Iraq as well as deployment of Pakistani troops in that country, and the Middle East peace process.
The Pakistan premier who cancelled his visit to US in April this year following invasion of Iraq by American forces, is visiting the country in response to an invitation from Bush. He would have a luncheon meeting with Bush on October one at White House followed by important meetings with administration officials including Secretary of SN Powell, Defence Secretary DND Treasury Secretary John Snow. The Pakistani premier would also interact with members of various committees and legislators of the Congress. His visit closely follows Musharraf's `high voltage' visit to United Nations and Canada. Musharraf's strong remarks against India and on the Kashmir issue during an address to the UN Generaly Assembly on September 24 provoked a sharp reply from Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and resulted in a war of words between officials of both nations.
