Bangladesh not responding to request for rail transit: Khanna
New Delhi, Aug 07: India today expressed concern over lack of response from Bangladesh to provide transit facility for rail linkage between North-Eastern region and the rest of the country.
New Delhi, Aug 07: India today expressed concern over lack of response from Bangladesh to provide transit facility for rail linkage between North-Eastern region and the rest of the country.
"Bangladesh has not been responsive to India's request to
provide transit facility for linking North-Eastern region with rest of India", Minister of State for External Affairs Vinod Khanna told rajya Sabha in reply to supplementaries during question hour.
"I hope some day wisdom will prevail", Khanna said.
In reply to the main question regarding rail link between New Delhi and Hanoi, the minister said at the ministerial meeting in Phnom Penh in June this year, the Mekong-Ganga cooperation countries had agreed to study the feasibility of establishing a rail link between New Delhi and Hanoi. "Government fully supports this initiative and has offered to send a team of experts to carry out a preliminary study in this regard", Khanna said.
