Action taken against some madrassas: Govt
New Delhi, Feb 18: Some madrassas have come to adverse light from the point of view of national security and action has been taken under the relevant laws, Lok Sabha was informed today.

In order to develop a database on madrassas, Centre has
requested state governments to send information on their
number, course/curriculum contents, authorities regulating
their functioning and grants received by them, minister of
state for home Harin Pathak said in a written answer.
The Centre has also sought information on steps taken by the state governments for the modernisation of madrassas and acts and regulations governing them, he said.
NIC: a proposal to reconstitute the National Integration Council is under consideration and after a decision is taken thereon, the meeting of the NIC would be convened to discuss the issues relating to incidents of communal violence and hatred in various parts of the country, minister of state for home I D Swami said.
Ayodhya: government has not made fresh efforts to mediate between the leaders of Hindu and Muslim communities to arrive at some mutually acceptable formula for ending the Ayodhya impasse, Pathak said.
Government is firmly of the view that the Ayodhya dispute can be resolved either through mutual agreement among all the parties concerned or through the verdict of the judiciary, he said.
