Karachi, Oct 21: Three fishermen were missing and feared drowned today after their harbour-bound boat collided with an oil tanker anchored off the Pakistani coast and capsized, police said.
Three other fishermen were rescued, said Maqsood Khan, a Karachi police inspector.
The al-Misr slammed into the tanker in darkness Sunday night and overturned, 65 km south of Karachi, said Khan.
Crewmen from another fishing boat rescued the three. Police and coast guard rescuers were still searching for the missing fishermen today, khan said.
The al-Misr, a small boat powered by an outboard motor, was returning after deep fishing on its maiden voyage, he said, quoting a survivor. The oil taker was waiting for a berth at Karachi, Pakistan's main Arabian Sea port.
