New Delhi, Nov 07: Railways have identified traffic undercharges, scrap disposal and fraudulent payment to staff as thrust areas for intensive vigilance scrutiny to prevent leakage of revenue. The preventive measures enabled Railways to detect leakage to the tune of Rs 52.5 crore from January to September this year, an official release said here today.
Other measures to prevent corruption include bridging the gap between demand and supply by augmentation of capacity, intensifying checks at mass user contact points, a watch on officials of doubtful integrity, system improvements and procedural amendments to improve transparency and reduce malpractices and investigation of complaints, it said.
